I am the founder of Kathryn Schie Speech Therapy, with a special interest in the care of medically complex infants and young children, particularly those facing neurological, genetic, and developmental feeding challenges. My expertise also extends to supporting children with tracheostomy tubes and gastrostomy/PEG feeding tubes. With over 17 years of experience in Speech Therapy and Audiology, I am dedicated to advancing care for these populations.
After completing my undergraduate studies at the University of the Witwatersrand in 2007, I gained foundational experience in two leading tertiary state hospitals. In 2019, I established Kathryn Schie Speech Therapy to provide specialised paediatric care within neonatal and paediatric ICU units across private hospitals in Johannesburg, as well as outpatient services at Grassroots Paediatric Practice. My goal is to support children on their path to recovery with tailored, evidence-based therapy interventions.
Committed to ongoing professional development, I have completed training in the Basic NDT/Bobath approach, the SOS Approach to Feeding, and the Makaton introduction and foundation courses. I am passionate about collaborating within a multidisciplinary team and believe that a holistic, family-centered approach is essential for achieving the best possible outcomes for each child.
