Dr Carla Jardine

MBBCh (Wits), Mmed (Paeds)(Wits), FC Paed (SA), Dip Neurodev. (Wits)

My university career started at the University of the Witwatersrand in 2002, and I simply never left! I completed a BSc (physiology) in 2004, followed by my bachelor’s degree in Medicine and Surgery in 2008. My internship of 2 years was completed at Tembisa Hospital in Olifantsfontein and was followed by a year of community service at the OR Tambo Clinic in Diepsloot. My Paediatric Specialist training began in 2013 at Baragwanath Hospital, and was completed in 2017. I have been working in private practice at the Garden City Clinic since 2018. During 2018 and 2019 I also completed a diploma in Child Neurodevelopment at Wits.

My private practice in 2018 started with predominantly general paediatric patients and ex-premature infants. Over the years, it has grown to include a large local and smaller international community of children who experience challenges due to ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder or other Neuro- Diverse conditions. I am really passionate about helping children to meet those challenges head on, to thrive and to ultimately achieve full integration within our schools and society. I work closely with all other professionals involved in each case, such as the School Teacher, Occupational Therapist, Speech Therapist, Physio and Educational Psychologist. Together we provide holistic supportive care to meet the child’s individual needs. My interests include ex-premature NICU and paediatric PICU patients that require ongoing rehabilitation, neurodevelopmental conditions such as ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Speech Apraxia, Congenital Syndromes and Cerebral Palsy.
