Danieyella Rodin

MA (Drama Therapy) (Wits); Hons (Drama Therapy) (Wits); Hons (Performance) (UCT); BA (Drama & Philosophy) (Rhodes)

I am an arts therapist who has worked creatively with children and families for most of my professional life. My career in the creative arts began from an early age, working as a performer and creator with a passion for children’s theatre. Over time, I recognised the value that imaginative and creative approaches can have for children, particularly when words feel hard to find. This drew me toward the healing arts to support children’s emotional wellbeing and development in a gentle, developmentally appropriate way.

I hold a Master’s degree (cum laude) in Drama Therapy from Wits. During my training, I worked privately with caregiver and infant groups, using music, play, and storytelling to nurture early attachment, regulation, and healthy development.

My clinical work with children has included work at the Johannesburg Children’s Home, the Sparrow Foundation, and a Waldorf school – supporting children experiencing trauma, neurodevelopmental delays, and the emotional challenges associated with loss, transitions, and overwhelm. I offer a calm, structured, and imaginative space where children can feel safe, understood, and held. Through play, movement, art‑making, and story, children are invited to explore feelings, build emotional regulation, develop resilience, and strengthen a sense of self at their own pace.

Alongside my work with children, I also work with adults within a psychiatric setting and in private practice (with a particular interest in supporting adolescents and couples). My approach is culturally sensitive, mindful, embodied, and client‑led, with a strong focus on relationship, trust, and meeting each child and family where they are.
